Constipation is a common digestive problem that affect bowel movements. It happens when you have fewer bowel movements than usual, or when your stools are hard, dry, and difficult to pass. It can be temporary or a sign of an underlying condition.
The treatment consists in the inclusion of life changes such as, increasing the fiber intake, drinking plenty of water (at least 6-8 glasses a day), exercising regularly (walking or any physical activity helps bowel movements) and/or using laxatives if needed (short-term use of fiber supplements or stool softeners).
